A follow-up project to the Austrian pavilion at the EXPO 2015 in Milan. Due to the great success of the EXPO project, a mobile version has been developed that is now in Italy. We are pleased to be able to contribute to this very exciting project and to the successful result.

The challenge with this project was the required robustness of the system, as AIRSHIP constantly changes location and all systems are often assembled and disassembled, as well as the less time and effort required for installation and the lowest possible weight and volume.

Airship01 is a mobile climate landscape installation that travels around Italy in 2016.
The installation was first presented in Padua in June 2016. and has now traveled to Milan.

Airship01 is a circular forest with about five meters in diameter, equipped with ventilation and spray climate system (misting), encased in a glossy membrane. Upon entering the Airship01 installation, visitors can experience a sensual full body experience and refresh themselves in the middle of a clearing in the open air in the middle of the city. At night, the translucent membrane has a shiny appearance. Trees, shrubs or leaves of the forest inside are visible on the surface. During the day, the sun is reflected through the metallic membrane, creating a fresh atmosphere inside, where Austrian forest eco-types create a unique sensual experience along with the installation and fog system.

Airship 01 works completely independently and can be remounted within two days. Airship presents a new way of networking breathe.earth.collective ideas and principles of design with nature and climate in the urban context.
