As part of the comprehensive redesign of Europaplatz in St. P\u00f6lten, a special highlight has been created: the Windcatcher<\/strong>. The Breathe Earth Collective<\/a> won the competition to design this innovative artwork, and Raintime was entrusted with the challenging water technology involved.<\/p>\n The Windcatcher is a large-scale fountain sculpture in the form of an open-topped rotunda, measuring 13 meters in diameter and about four meters in height. It consists of multiple concrete rings with clay tiles inserted between them. Raintime was responsible for ensuring the even distribution of water across the entire surface of the structure to create the characteristic waterfall-like effect<\/strong>. Seating is available within the Windcatcher, allowing visitors to take a break in the cool and calming atmosphere.<\/p>\n Especially on hot days, the Windcatcher provides a welcome refuge from the heat, noticeably lowering the surrounding temperature. At the same time, the installation reduces traffic noise and particulate matter in the air, making the experience even more enjoyable.<\/p>\n After its use, the water flows through a layer of gravel, filtering it before being returned to a cistern and recirculated.<\/p>\n The project is still under development, but the Windcatcher at Europaplatz is set to be officially inaugurated during a celebratory event on August 29<\/strong>.
