A lot of gardening in April is dependent on the weather, but extended warm periods are no longer uncommon.<\/p>\n

With rising temperatures<\/strong>, moisture disappears<\/strong> from the ground. The sun often shines for many days at a time and especially during longer dry periods you should always remember that your plants – especially now young plants<\/strong> – need sufficient and regular watering<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fertilize onion flowers<\/h3>\n

The development of the flowers was very strenuous for the bulb flower. If you give daffodils, tulips etc. after the flowering of complete mineral fertilizer, you will be amazed at the abundant flowering next year.<\/p>\n

Plant summer flowering bulbs<\/h3>\n

The greatest risk of frost is over in April and sensitive onion and bulbous<\/strong> plants such as dahlias<\/strong>, freesia<\/strong>, calla<\/strong> or gladiolus can be replanted<\/strong>. The planting depths<\/strong> are very different<\/strong> here and are around 5 cm for fresias and dahlias, pots between 8 and 10 cm and gladiolus are planted around 10 cm deep.
TIP!<\/strong><\/span> Gladiolus grow very tall and are also very sensitive to wind. Already place a planting stick in the planting hole.<\/p>\n

Sow summer flowers<\/h3>\n

Snapdragons<\/strong>, gypsophila<\/strong>, golden poppy<\/strong>, vetch<\/strong>, cornflower<\/strong> and marigold<\/strong> are insensitive summer flowers and can be sown directly into the bed<\/strong> in April. If night frost threatens again, it is sufficient to cover the seedlings with a fleece.<\/p>\n

More sensitive summer bloomers s<\/strong>uch as straw flowers, sunflowers, black-eyed susanne, tagetes, zinnias, verbena or ornamental sage should be preferred<\/strong> until mid-May<\/strong> and can then be planted in the bed.<\/p>\n

Plant rhododendrons<\/h3>\n

Now<\/strong> is the time to plant rhododendrons<\/strong>. So that the original forest dwellers also feel fantastic, they need a low-lime<\/strong>, well-drained<\/strong>, humus-rich<\/strong> and evenly moist soil<\/strong>.
TIP!<\/span><\/strong> If planted too deeply, rhododendrons very quickly suffer from a lack of air. So like to plant too higher than too deep, this supports root formation.<\/p>\n

Share perennials<\/h3>\n

Perennials blooming in spring need all their strength for the flowers and should therefore only be divided after they have flowered – preferably in autumn. Perennials such as coneflower<\/strong>, bellflower<\/strong>, fat hen<\/strong> and purple bells are easy to propagate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To divide, carefully take the plant out of the earth with the digging fork and divide it into two or more sections about the size of a fist. This can often be achieved by simply pulling them apart with your hands, or you can use a sharp knife or a spade with a sharp blade.<\/p>\n
