In November the first snow falls and this means for the (hobby) gardener that the garden has to be tidied up and made safe for winter. So that the plants or the entire garden survives the winter well, we have put together a checklist with the most important tasks for you, which should be done by November at the latest.<\/p>\n

MAKE PLANTS WINTERFEST<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not all trees and shrubs are winter proof and most potted plants should be protected from frost and cold. POTTED PLANTS<\/strong> need frost protection<\/strong>. You can bring them indoors<\/strong> and put them in a cool and dark place like the basement over the winter. If you want to overwinter your potted plants outdoors<\/strong>, they must be packed well<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The crown<\/strong> of the plant should be wrapped with a fleece<\/strong>, around the trunk<\/strong> should be brushwood<\/strong> and wrapped around<\/strong> the pot<\/strong> a bubble wrap<\/strong> and then cover this again with a burlap sack<\/strong>. Clay pots of clay should not stand directly on the ground, as this will prevent the water from draining and if it freezes, it increases the risk of it shattering the pot. It is advisable to place the bucket on a polystyrene plate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

REMOVE LAW<\/strong><\/p>\n

Foliage should always be removed from the lawn. When it stops, it starts to rot. When snow falls on it, the snow closes the leaves on the lawn. This damages the grass and can lead to mold. In a layer of about one to two centimeters thick, the compost comes to the cleared beds. The leaves from the trees and the clippings of the beds then comes to rotting to a new pile.<\/p>\n
