The growth of the plants decreases in August more and more, but there is still a lot to do in the garden. Especially in midsummer, the to-do list is especially long. One of the most important works in August is the plant cut, because the cutting after the flowering period prevents the spread of diseases and promotes a generous flowering.<\/p>\n

Plant pruning in August<\/h1>\n

Hedge<\/h3>\n

In August, the second hedge-cut of the summer usually takes place. After the first pruning of the hedge at the end of June, some trees will be strong again, so that privet, hornbeam and beech can be cut into shape again.
\nIMPORTANT!<\/strong>
\nSo that the cuts of the plants can heal well until the beginning of winter, you should not shorten the hedge too much and have the cut carried out by mid-September at the latest.<\/p>\n

Fruit trees<\/h3>\n

Especially fruit trees are very sensitive to diseases, so beautiful and smooth cuts are very important, because a smooth cut prevents the ingress of diseases. Saw branches that grow inward and all branches sick or damaged. For large wounds you should use wound dressing.

\nWhen cutting, be sure to maintain a good balance between firewood and extension branches and that the side branches on the main branches do not become heavier than the main branches themselves. Ideally, you should always keep the framework of the tree the same size.<\/p>\n

Bushes<\/h3>\n

Flowering shrubs may be pruned only after the full flowering period. Ideally, the shrubs are performed on a sun-poor and rather chilly day. This will help prevent your shrubs from getting sunburned, as especially shortened branches tend to be prone to sunburn. The summer cut in shrubs is usually a care and shape cut. It is therefore easy and not radical.<\/p>\n

\nFertilize, mow & water<\/h3>\n

At the end of August you should once again provide lawn care with lawn fertilizer. Fertilization makes the turf denser and, in the best case, reduces weeds. For a uniform fertilizer distribution, a spreader is ideal. The regular mowing preserves the lush green and it is particularly important to further irrigate the lawn intensively.<\/p>\n

Irrigate the garden … pour, pour, pour!<\/h1>\n

When the sun is low, ie in the early morning and late evening hours, the best time to water. Why? Excessive exposure to the sun can cause burns to the plants – casting around this time prevents such damage. Another advantage is that the root area is poured, which in turn acts as a strong prevention of fungal infestation and disease.<\/p>\n

Depending on the size of the garden and balcony, many (hobby) gardeners spend an incredible amount of time irrigating in the summer months. An automatic irrigation system takes care of this effort and supplies the plants exactly as needed.<\/p>\n
